How to use virtual backgrounds in Zoom like a professional

Quickest guide to getting TV-level virtual backgrounds on Zoom


  1. Download an image from Zoom's library of virtual backgrounds here: https://www.zoom.com/en/products/virtual-meetings/features/virtual-background-library/

  2. Open Zoom, click on your profile picture or initials in the top-right corner, then select Settings.

  3. Select Background & effects in the left-side menu, then click virtual backgrounds.


  4. Upload that image you downloaded by clicking the + icon


  5. And you're ready to go!



Become a "Zoom Pro" with graphic overlays

Virtual backgrounds are a good start, but there is so much potential for branding your calls on Zoom that 99% of users are not taking advantage of. Take a look at what your Zoom calls can look like with Overlay Graphics:

Here's a quick guide on how you can do this yourself:


  1. Download the free Zoom extension SPX Graphics for Zoom using this link, follow the steps: https://app.spxzoom.com/install


  2. Once added to Zoom, open the app by finding Apps and clicking on SPX Graphics for Zoom

  3. With this plugin, you can control overlay graphics such as nametags and headlines which will surely make you stand out on Zoom calls. Try them out by clicking on the toggle switches and editing the content by opening the menu.

  4. This is already putting you at top 1% of zoom users, but to take your Zoom game even further, look in the graphics store to find powerful graphics like the meeting agenda, timer, image carousel, and much more! There are also "themes" you can purchase to customize the look and feel of your graphics to better suit your branding!
